About

Why do I do this? This is a one-person occasional effort. The main trigger to start this blog is the idea to simply share restaurant recommendations with friends.

I love restaurants and food. I love the whole experience and I am lucky enough to frequent restaurants in interesting cities all year round.

I have a preference for Japanese, French and Italian food and this is reflected in my reviews. I mostly travel in South East and East Asia and also this is reflected in the reviews.

I am not a culinary expert or a poet… my reviews are eminently practical, many times I will qualify food just using simple adjectives such as “good” or “bad”. It is my personal opinion. I hope here and there to provide some useful suggestions that can improve your experience if you happen to venture in the same places.

I categorized my foodie experiences in four buckets: street food (also applies to snacks or food consumed outside restaurants), everyday dining (places where to find an affordable lunch or a dinner for no more than 40 USD), fine dining (more expensive restaurants where food alone will cost more than 40 USD) and finally Michelin-starred ultra luxury restaurants (where food alone will probably cost more than 100 USD).

While I focus on places where I had positive experiences and where I come back again and again, I am also including places that failed to live up to their promises.

I named the blog “Check Please!” because I normally pay for my meals and I will try to share the final bill in the review and comment on the prices. I am looking for great experiences, but also for value for money.

Enjoy your meal!

PS: if you wish to contact me, message on my Facebook page or leave a comment on any review page with your contact details and I will get back to you (I won’t publish it).
